Question 71 Rear Disc Options

Looking to get away from the drums in the rear, and want to know my options, make sure I covered all of the bases.

Option 1: Kit from Blackbird's $585 seems like a good deal w/ebrakes

Option 2: Glock's bracket conversion using camaro/impala parts (save a little bit of scratch)

Option 3: I'm not aware of any direct replacements, nor if you could order them from the factory, but is there a common swap 5x5 disc-rear? couldn't find much info on search.

Option 4: Caddy parts ( I admittedly didn't look to hard into this one, so I don't know the costs involved)

What are your thoughts boys? (and the occasional super-cool ladies)

Re: 71 Rear Disc Options

I think that the 76 Eldorado front rotors would be the place to start looking for rear rotors.
Schucks shows that they have 76 Eldo rotors that are pretty inexpensive. but they don't show to be on the shelf in the stores, at least not here.

Most likely the caliper brackets made for a 4x4 would work on the two wheel drive rigs and the 77/78 Eldorado Caliper would be the one to use if you wanted park brakes.

I've spent a lot of time trying to get squared away to put rear disks on my 3/4 ton with a Dana 60 but haven't checked half tons.

Re: 71 Rear Disc Options

Use a prepackaged kit and save the heartache, time and money. I put together my own kit and it cost me more money in the end.

Re: 71 Rear Disc Options

Well,
Ive got the caddy stuff and hate it, I bought the glock stuff and will be putting it on soon. I dont like the caddy calipers.

You have to get the master cyl/prop valve too for a disk/disk setup.

Glocks stuff comes with a list of all the stuff you need.
