Idea
I have a big ugly hole in my floor. I have a 67 Chevrolet swb. I am thinking about cutting my floor out for a Big block hump. Can anyone think of a reason I shouldnt do this

Question is do you NEED TO? Why not just patch the hole?

If you have the hump to cover the cutout IC no problem. Make sure the hump is the correct one for the transmission your going to use..ie..no holes in the hump cover if remaining a column shift.

At what point do holes in the floor become attractive? If it was mine, I'd (1) patch it with sheet metal or other suitable material that would then be covered by carpet or proper floor mat, or (2) insert a shifter into said hole that would them be used to operate the transmission. If the said hole is not in the right place for that to occur, then use your imagination and cover the wrong hole, with the proper material (see #1).

I have a 454 and TH400 in the White '67 with a low hump. Just get the piece you need to patch the floor out of a donor or junk yard truck and weld it in.... LockDoc
