Instrument clusters
I need a bit of schooling about instrument clusters
I know there are differences between 73-80 and 81-87 Is there differences between the wiring set up for guage and idiot light? What differences do i need to overcome? Im thinking of replacing my guage set up with another the thing is i dont know if mine had idiot lights or guages as the PO put in some not working aftermarket temp and oil guages I would prefer the stock guages in the dash.. neither cluster has a tach Also there is no difference between the cluster that came from a stick as opposed to an automatic other than the black tape that covers the gear selector section? TIA Bob

Re: Instrument clusters
There are differences in the wiring between gauges and no gage clusters. There is no difference in the cluster between manual and automatic. I will try to illistrate the differences in wiring. The number is the color of the wire and this is how it would look if the cluster was face down on a table.
No gages 150 14 33 15 25 39 939 empty 39 empty 35 150 31 237 8 empty 11 30 with gages 35 150 150 14 30 15 39 237 31 empty 39 931 150 39 8 33 11 30 The repeated numbers are correct and this will work from 78-82. My source is the GM Wiring diagram. |
