Re: Check out the 72 with the GM CB

GM CB's came in two forms...It was my understanding but this picture shows me wrong...the wood grain CB's were for 70 and back & the gray face GM CB's were for 71-72. Soooo I am not sure which CB came with what year trucks? By the way.....I have an NOS gray face GM CB in my office closet.

Re: Check out the 72 with the GM CB

the CB isn't factory, as in a RPO, it is a dealer installed item, so they are not year specific.
Mike, I think your words on the cover are a tad bit too nice...

But you are 100% right about the rest of the truck.
I've never seen a highlander seat in this color in such good shape.

Re: Check out the 72 with the GM CB

I agree the CB's were not a factory option but purchased through dealers. I was under the impression there were two styles of CB's which were used from 67-72....The one had wood like trim while the other has a gray face. Otherwise they were identicle. Ok...now I an curious. Did a truck owner have a choice of either a wood-like trim front or a gray face? What determines which CB was avaliable for which years? Its time for 67-72 Chevy Truck 101.

when dealerships ran out of one, then they got the other.

If I had to guess I would say the gray faced CB's were generation #I and the Wood Trim would be generation #2....the reasoning for this is the the wood grain CB's made the truck look a little more dressier and in the later model years the trucks started to compete option wise with the passenger cars. So maybe when the one style ran out the next generation went to the dealers?

What Longhorn Man says makes sense that if the dealers ran out of CB's they just placed another but...the question is did they manufacture both types of CB's at the same time or were they year specific?

We may never know as my 1970 Chevy Truck Accessories shows a CB which doesn't even look like this one.
