Gorgeous truck! Glad to see they used high quality paint way back when which allows us to show off the original beauty.
Nice work! |

Yeah, it's amazing what a few tons of LEAD in the paint will do! Just don't lick the thing and you should be ok!

Re: New pics of my original paint 1972
That is one pretty truck. Really makes me want to start looking for a 67-72 truck. My best friend's dad has a 72 long bed that is that dark olive and white. His dad purchased it new in 72. It's nice, but not as nice as yours!!

Wheels are the 15x7 truck rallys.
Suspension is the ECE 3.5/5" drop. Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

Re: New pics of my original paint 1972
Is it a long bed or short? It's hard to tell from the pics. Do you have any pics of the engine bay?

Re: New pics of my original paint 1972
Rene,
Little did you know that the feature on your trucks are what finally made me decide to never paint the truck and keep the original trim on it. Sure, the paint is faded in spots, but she still cleans up great and repainting/restoring the truck would erase 37 years of character IMO. Thanks.

Re: New pics of my original paint 1972
Oh, here's a pic of what is probably my favorite part on the truck.
The truck was bought new at Littrell Chevy (dealership is long since out of business). The original owner traded a 1966 Ford Ranchero on it. |

Re: New pics of my original paint 1972
Yeah sometimes a truck in your condition is cool with all the faded paint, and scratches. It adds character. On the other hand they sure to look good all re-painted, and back to their original glory. I say keep it the way she is until you just can't stand it anymore. It looks amazing.

Re: New pics of my original paint 1972
That`s my kind of truck, too."Only original once",as they say.The dealer rames were more of a west coast thing back then. They had enough sense not to put plaques on the body.By the time they started doing frames back east they were plastic. And,many dealers still, also, stuck a plaque on!At least they`re stick on.They drilled holes for those chrome ones.At least some were speed nut type.

Re: New pics of my original paint 1972
wow, the paint is in excellent condition, and it's very cool that you still have the dealers emblem on it. My truck is also dark olive 1971 and I love the color. Nice truck!

Yours and Brian's could almost pass for twins...Or brothers anyway!
Especially before he changed his wheels! His also came from Alabama and now makes it's home in Georgia. |
