Worth the Effort?
The more I look at my 67, the more I wonder if I'm the only one that likes the small back window. What do you think?

Re: Worth the Effort?
I would put up a picture, but I never took any while it was together. It's been apart for about three years. I sometimes see other 67-72's driving and think to myself " if I had one of those trucks I'd ..." without even realizing that I do have one of those trucks! Does that qualify me for meds?

Re: Worth the Effort?
While the big window does look good, the small window kinda gives the '67 a uniqueness, I think.
Now, about your qualification for meds, I doubt it. I've caught myself doing the same thing sometimes, so it must be norml.

Re: Worth the Effort?
I think the '67 is unique and since I like that kind of vehicle I like mine, even if it is pretty rough. I like the look of the sloping hood, no side markers and small back window.
My '67 is driveable, but is my some day project. Actually it will be worked on after I finish working on the '71, well maybe a little before as time allows. I have always owned a vehicles that some may say were different like Renault, AMX, VW, Moto Guzzi, '86 4-Runner, '71 lwb stepper and now '67 swb stepper with a 250 l6 and a compound 4 speed. Danny

Re: Worth the Effort?
Just wondering why your are asking the question? If yours has the back window, you can't really change it. The cool thing is that it's just a preference. I do not care for them because they seem to not be proportionally correct for the size of the cab......but that's just my opinion. I know there are some people that think it's retarded that my motor sticks out of my hood, but I like it.
Bottom line to me is that too small of a back window on a Chevy is way better than the perfect sized window on a Ford!!!!! The other thing is that you have the coolest looking front end to ever be put on a truck!!! |

Re: Worth the Effort?
The only problem with all small window cabs are the blind spot behind the driver. That being said you will not see that many small window cabs in the 67-72's as they were only a 1 year truck.

Re: Worth the Effort?
I agree that the small window is a little out of proportion to the back of the cab, but I like that you can instantly recognize it as a 67. Maybe if I do a flush fitting rear glass, it will look a little bigger. I just don't want to build a truck that only looks good to me. I see way too many examples of that on CL that make you wonder if Helen Keller was the project manager.

Re: Worth the Effort?
Okay now that's some funny stuff right there! I go to rod runs all the time and see cars and trucks that are 98% cool and then there is that one little thing that goofs the whole look up. Not sure that would be the case there though.
As anyone seen a Chopped-top with a small back window?? Now that would be interesting to see! Maybe take the glass down a bit with the top. Just thinking out loud. It sounds like for you though a big back window might be a safer bet. Kinda hard to go back. |

Re: Worth the Effort?
The standard in 67 was the small window, the large window was an option.
As far as preference, it's all up to you. If you like it then thats all that matters. Opinions are like @$$Hole$, everyone has one. I like them both. |

Re: Worth the Effort?
Yeah, going from a small window to a big window is a lot of work for marginal returns. If it wasn't a rust free cab I'd consider finding another, but 67 big window cabs are not easy to find in good shape, and I like the small ignition bezel for 67. I think my truck will look good when I'm finished with it, but, everyone else might think it it is the vehicular equivalent to the banjo kid in "Deliverance"

Re: Worth the Effort?
Maybe you could turn it into a '50's five window? That would definitely set it apart.
