3/4 Ton Owners, What Wheels Are You Running?

Well, I did a Google search of 8 lug wheels and found a thread on the 67-72 board that made me start this one. I am wondering what are some of the possibilities for wheels for an 8 lug, 3/4 ton are. Well guys, what are you running for wheels?

I'm doing this so I have ideas to play around with for my truck, so I can get my 16.5s, with their mismatched tires, off.

Thanks
Benjamin.

Most places I search just come up with the ugly old wagon wheel type wheels for my application.

15 inch chrome modulars. Had to grind the calipers and brackets on the front axle to make them clear.

I didn't know they made 15", 8 lug wheels. Any idea what brand they are?

Thanks

Re: 3/4 Ton Owners, What Wheels Are You Running?

Could you get a side pic of them for me? They look like American Racing wheels, but I'm not sure.

Thanks

Re: 3/4 Ton Owners, What Wheels Are You Running?

US Wheel has the 8 lug version. I bought a pair of 15x10 5 lug rims from them and the chrome is nice.

I run 16.5 by 10 and my local tire shop had tough time finding a set of 33x12.5 for 16.5 rim. Would like eventually to move to 17" or larger diameter rim, but 8 lug configuration is not very common.

8-lug is a lot more common than you think. With the popularity of the hummer (h1/h2, 8-lug) and the diesel trucks (almost all 8-lug) a lot of companies have stepped up to the plate. Not only that but with some vehicles coming stock with 17" , larger tires are easier to get. Hummer comes stock with 315 70 17 (35x17), those are easy to come by. Also a majority of desert racers run a 17" rim which helps out because all major tire companies carry poplar 17" tire sizes (31", 32", 33", 35")

Yo! FRANKENTRUCK sports 17"x8" Foose Spanks wrapped with 285x70x17 Firestones:

They made my height perfect, are beautiful and the 33" tires brought my highway speed rpms down some (TH400 and 4.11:1 rear gears,...swapping from 30" tires).
There's actually a reasonable selection of eight lugs available.
Check summitracing.com, jegs.com, jcwhitney.com, for example.
I commonly get mine from my local tire distributor in Greeley, Peerless Tyres.
The Spanks, I got on craigslist via a tip from cochino12 on this forum!
Sometimes ya get lucky!
Todd.

Thanks for the tip! I have not looked at tires for a while - I just do not put that many miles on my truck anymore. The last set of 16.5" I put on back in '03 and the darn things still look good!

What about offset (back spacing) difference - can any one comment on what H1/H2 run vs. our 3/4 square bodies???

appears to be the same as the 16.5 rims that came off. I have no turning radius issues or rubbing issues with the hummer wheels. The only difference is different style lug nuts.

Re: 3/4 Ton Owners, What Wheels Are You Running?

I can buy some wheels and tires off a Ford, they're 16.5 all terrains but the tread is 12 inches wide and the wheels are about 10 inches wide. The guy wants $300 for the set. Before I consider getting them, does anybody know if I would have any steering issues?

Thanks
Benjamin.
