I need some hep!

Changed the cap, rotor, plugs and wires on the ‘Burb last night. It starts up and idles fine, but when I put her in gear and accelerate, I get a sputtering sound/vibration and zero power. It was late, so I packed it in for the night. I’m 95% sure I put the wires back on in the right order, but I’ll double check tonight.

Any other possible suggestions?

If it wasnt doing it before the new parts, something is not on correctly. I would just double check the installation.

Re: I need some hep!

I've been having the same problems with mine since I bought it, except mine doesnt idle real smooth til its warmed up. Plus i've changed the coolant temp sensor, throttle body gasket and even tried the tps.

If you figure this out, let me know...?

TBI sensor, where is that?

Re: I need some hep!

Yo! If it WAS running, then your most recent job is the cause of the poor running engine.
Check number one wire location (front,...to driver's side with HEI, passenger side with points), and, verifying in a clockwise direction the '73-'87s are all 18436572, I'm pretty sure. Driver's cylinder bank starts with number one at front, 3, 5, 7, going rearward. 2, 4, 6, 8 on the passenger side.
I'd bet it's wire arrangement,...it's easy to do.
Todd.

Re: I need some hep!

It sounds like you have a cracked spark plug or crossed wires. Recheck your firing order.

Re: I need some hep!

Make sure the cap is seated properly. You can tighten down the sides and it will still be on slightly off center. Loosen all 4 points and try and reseat it.
