Question carburetor

the problem is
where the gas line atteaches to the carburetor
the threads are striped where the big nut holds the filter in
i still have 1/2 inch if thread not used
can i get that nut longer
or do i have to replace the carb or bowl
i found the nut longer except the flared end was bigger and couldn't find a reducer

Re: carburetor

greenhorn,I had the same problem,on a 250 monojet.I couldn't even get a nut thru the locl APS.I happened by the Speed shop about 6 blocks from work and decided to stop in and see if they had one. They had a whole wall full.Turned out that a new one solved my problem.I guess the new threads were in better shape.I also think they make a self tapping type that is just slightly larger to solve this problem.Carb parts are getting rare at the APS but the drag racers still use them so the speed shop may be a better source for parts.
