Am I missing something?

I went to do the front cab mounts on my '70 today and I'm having a problem... The nut is on the bottom of the cab but the top of the bolt should be on the cab floor correct? I peeled the carpet back to get to it but there's no bolt there... Pulling back the carpet revealed there's a new piece of sheet metal half assly welded there and I think he covered up the bolt... If I'm wrong could someone tell me where to locate the nut?

Re: Am I missing something?

Sounds like they installed a floor pan on top of the bolt head... You're gonna have to find it and use a hols saw to cut that metal..

This is assuming that there is a body mount under there and you can see the bolt and nut under the cab next to the frame...

Yeah there's a body mount. That's what I thought but I was just making sure before I go cutting holes where I don't need to. Thanks.

Are you talking about the big nut behind the wheel? I have found it's fairly easy to locate if you use a mirror

Re: Am I missing something?

Here is the bolt hole, new floor pans don't have a hole drilled so more than likely he layered your floor pans instead of cutting out the old floor and then welding in the new one, then drill the hole for the bolt. Yes, the bolt head should be visible.

Re: Am I missing something?

I thought so but my dad insisted the bolt was not in the cab... ? Thanks for the help... Now to measure and hope it works. I guess I'll get a hole saw and try and measure out where it's at. Shouldn't be to hard.

Re: Am I missing something?

Is the bolt not welded in on the 70 like it is on the 72?

On mine I wouldn't need to get to the bolt head to torque down the nut.
