Adhesive's?

The clasp that holds the rear window shut popped off a couple days ago courtesy of the GF. I can't get anything to hold it back on. It will hold but then when I go to latch it the pressure pops it back off. I've tried rear view mirror adhesive and epoxy. I let the rear view mirror adhesive dry for an hour and the box says 5 min, I let the epoxy sit for 8 hours and the box says 8 hours... Any of you guys had this problem or have suggestions on what to use?

Re: Adhesive's?

On the same thing, I've tried windshield urethane, with no luck.
Since the urethane stays flexible, the latch is constantly being moved and pulls off.
I would suggest a plastic adhesive, you should be able to find a small kit at an auto parts store for a reasonable price. Maybe sand the glass and the "clip thingy" first with 40 or 80 grit.

Re: Adhesive's?

A really high quality 3M 2 sided tape might work for that.

I thought about that but I'm thinking the pressure when you latch it will pull it off like the others. Rear view mirror adhesive is stronger than super glue and it didn't hold it...

I am talking about a high quality urethane not the 3m crap for $14.00 at the parts store. We do it all the time and it holds. It won't move

they make all kinds of urethane with many recipes. You just have to use the correct one.
