Opinions On Tach install

Hey all. I am planning on modding my cluster a little. I dream of a No Limit billet cluster full of Auto Meter Carbon Fiber gauges, but that 800.00 is better spent toward paint and body work right now.

In the mean time, I would like to mod the good cluster I have.

I plan to do like (I think it was Gringoloco) and mod a sunpro volt gauge by adding its guts to the stock face plate.

Here are my question: My truck is med to dark blue and will have charcoal interior.

1. Should I go with white face decals or carbon fiber ones for this cluster build?

2. Should I just mount my Sunpro tach from the front, or try to make it work from behind?

If you are using the stock gauges in the new face, I think figuring out how to get the tach behind the face would be better looking then mounting from the front. That is if you can get it to mount from behind.

As for color, are you going to change the tach as well or will it be as shown? If as shown, I would do whatever makes them look the same. White faced gauges with a black faced tach will look very "add-on" and not blend like it was meant to be there.

I like the way the tach looks behind the lens, and with the all black factory gauges, looks much cleaner to me.

Like you, my dream setup is the billet dash piece with Autometers, but I didn't have $800 in the 'gauge budget' either, so I went with a factory repro tach dash setup.
