Brake pedal problem
I just installed a power brake booster on my 68 c10. I bled the lines, have plenty of vacuum, and everything seems to be connected properly. When i press the brake pedal down and release the pedal does not return into the up posistion unless I use my foot to pull it back up. There's no resistance when using my foot to pull it back and it fells like it go down as it should. Should I put a bigger/stronger return spring on the pedal or are there any other areas I should look at first?
Thanks |

Re: Brake pedal problem
I would first try to find out where the bind is.
On my 68 the brake pedal was about 1-1/2" lower than before I installed the power brakes because the push rod is shorter. I just left it like that since it worked fine. You can disconnect the push rod from the back of the booster in the engine compartment (this would be easier than inside) then check to see if it still comes up all the way. If it does, then the bind is in the vacuum booster. |

Re: Brake pedal problem
Ok,nevermind this post...
During my lunch break I went and looked at it. My partner in crime that helped me buckle everything up put the brake pedal clevis pin in backwards and put a little too much torque on it causing it to bind up. It was jogging my noodle until I actually went and took a look at it. Thanks for the reply 68gmsee. I probably wouldn't have thought of anything binding up unless you said it... |
