71 LWB I drug home yesterday
I drug a 71 long bed home yesterday. I have been looking high and low for a shirt bed with no rust and they are virtually impossible to find for a reasonable price around here.
In the mean time I found this long bed I really dont want and originally he said it was in perfect shape with a non running motor. Well perfect shape was OK shape. Either way I am pulling the Jet skis out of the garage and shovign this thing in there and taking a few htings that I know I want and parting it out on the board for everything else I dont want. It is pretty nice and It was a C10 deluxe long bed. Ill get rid of the sheet metal locally as it is easier then shipping it but everything else I will ship. I need to do some checking if these aftermarket AC systems use the factory heater/ac controls or if they come with their own replacement. Cause this one is GREAT condtiion. What do you think? Looks to be in pretty good shape - are you going to cut it down?

Re: 72 LWB I drug home yesterday
No, I really wanted a few parts off the truck so I picked it up. I thought about cutting it down but really do not want to take on the task of doing it. I had an 8 hour drive there and an 8 hour drive home that I tossed the idea in my head. I tried convincing myself the entire drive though,
I was told the sheetmetal and interior was perfect and it has no rudt just not perfect. The interior seat was completely ripped but the foam and seat itself is in good condition. Not to mention it is a complete AC cab with a complete AC system that I am sure someone might want it or pieces. |

Re: 72 LWB I drug home yesterday
Still learning these things, but isn't a '72's rear view mirror stuck on the windshield, & all '71's & earlier years mounted up between the visors like this one, or did some '72's have it like this, too ????

Re: 72 LWB I drug home yesterday
Im still earning these things too. I just took it for what the guy said as a 72. But I would have to say it is a 71 with the mirror where it is, disc brakes, and grill. I have not bothered to check the vin though

Re: 72 LWB I drug home yesterday
It has pre72 doors and door panels. Looks to be a 71. Looks like a good start. Why not find a short frame and a short bed to convert it to a short bed.

Re: 72 LWB I drug home yesterday
cause when I find short beds and frames, they are usualy complete trucks. With everything I have I can keep what I dont have, buy what I want to be nice, and build one up shortly. Besides, i have an HOA... the devil!!!! And I have two trucks in the garage and my jet skiis in the driveway not to mention the storage shed I have now to house chevy parts... hahahaha is this a sickness?

Re: 72 LWB I drug home yesterday
Looks like a decent truck. Maybe you should get her running, and enjoy the longbed

That looks waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than most of the trucks for sale around here. You know you want to bust out the cut off wheel and welder

Re: 72 LWB I drug home yesterday
Nice find!...
On another note, can you tell what length is that trailer you got there.....I'm looking at buying one but looking for the shortest possible that can still do a full size long bed truck.....and yours seems to be just that......14' or maybe 16' long ?? Thanks, Dan

Re: 72 LWB I drug home yesterday
Much nicer truck than what we find around here, it actually has rocker panels and cab corners LOL. I've had long and short beds over the years, I think the long beds ride nicer myself. Also nice to haul sheetrock or plywood with the tailgate up! Yes I believe in working them.
