Another noob intro...San Diego
Just what you all need, another FNG! Im Nailz from San Diego, short term lurker on this very cool sight. I picked up this 66 about a month ago locally and loving the hell out of it. Hasnt been on the road much since i got it...already got the starter, flywheel, waterpump and battery replaced and fixed some wiring issues. It has an older 350/700R4 combo, manual brakes and steering. I am planning on the usual laundry list of upgrades...disk brakes, power steering, and a 5.5/7 inch drop and C-notch. The coils had been heated/cut by the PO, and would like a better ride. Also, the roll pan is not my style, so i will cut it out and put a chrome bumper on it. Want to use the truck as a parts hauler/Home Depot assault vehicle. My other old car is a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL Sunliner (lays frame) and prior to that had a 54 Bel Air also on bags. Also recently had a 1960 VW safari window panel bus that was super low i used for surfing. This will be my new surfboard hauler.
Ok, ill shut up now and start learning... cheers~Nailz |

Oops...this is why you don't go out drinking and then post on forums. Its a 1965, not a 1966.

Re: Another noob intro...San Diego
Thanks for the warm welcome. Aerotruck, what can i say that hasn't been said about your truck...other than wow! MacAttack, the wheels were on the car when i bought it. Which is random because thats the style i wanted to run anyway. I was looking at Wheel Vintiques 10 series chrome smoothies. Check out their website. My tires are 235/75 15 so i am assuming my wheels are 15X7?
I cut out the roll pan yesterday and mounted the brackets and chrome bumper. Looks nice except the brackets are pretty visible in the big gap between bumper and rear valance. Might have to fab up something to put there to cover up that gap. Happy 4th...God bless the US! ~Nailz |

Re: Another noob intro...San Diego
I could be wrong, but I believe I've seen some people mention a factory filler panel for that area you described. Not sure if they are difficult to get a hold of or not. FYI....

Re: Another noob intro...San Diego
My truck has this piece. I've not seen them for sale. But they would be pretty easy to fabricate. It's just two flat pieces of steel with a lip turned up. I'll get a pic of mine tomorrow.

It's rollable lol but I need to do some more work before I trust taking it out on the streets. I am actually in San Marcos(north county). If I do make it down that way, would love to see your truck, it is so much further along then mine! lol

Re: Another noob intro...San Diego
I thought I recognized your truck. I'll get a pic of the rear bumper, but the fill in pieces are like the one in the link. There are two of them, one on each side.
