Best Place for Front Disc Brake Conversion? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Trying to have a place that has good quality and prices to convert my front drum brakes to 5 lug disc brake setup. I already have the master cylinder and power booster so I just need the prop valve and all the other hardware.

So please give me your input on everyones experences that you have had with your conversion and what company that you went with.

I have never done it, but I have read on here that others have done it by getting the whole front assembly from a '71 or newer donor truck and putting it in the place of the orginal.

I am sure some one else will chime in, but this will take this to the top.

The company to use is GM.

Find a 71-87 donor truck and R&R the entire cross member. That is the easiest and cheapest.

I have not purchased the parts yet, but when I do, my plan is to buy a complete kit from GMCPauls. The kit includes the necessary component for the brakes as well as drop spindles and rear lower springs. Here is a link:

i was going to do that but i pieced together stock spinleds rotors etc etc and rebuild the frontend ive got like 450 in all mine....i may buy drop spindles soo ntough

I bought 2" drop springs from GMCPauls Truck Parts so if they have the rest of the parts to complete my conversion I might as well go with them.

I did the ece kit a few years ago it was pretty easy. And they were a great help
