What you guys think about this craigslist find?
while lookin around on craigslist here in houston, i found a guy selling 2 firestone "airstroke" and 2 other airbags, all with top and bottom cups, and all brand new - $150. i think i found a good deal but just seeing what everyone else thinks. after taking off the cups i found out i have 2 firestone 255c 2500 bags, and 2 slam specialties rs-62 bags. cups have a little surface rust, but no rubs or anything on the bags, just a little dusty.
FIRESTONE 2500 [IMG][/IMG] SLAM RS-62 [IMG][/IMG] what you guys think? also, these are going on my 67 suburban. are they going to be tall enough and strong enough to lift it up and down, and which ones should i use for the front and which for the back? Sorry to be the party pooper, but I'm not a fan of used parts when it comes to air systems.
Too much riding on them. Literally. |

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
They don't "appear" to have been installed or atleast never actually used.
I am no expert on Slam Bags, but I would think run them like they are set up now with the Slam Specialties and cups up front, and the Firestones in the rear. BTW- Those are some tall cups.

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
I agree with Shane. I don't think suspension systems are the place to run used parts. Especially bags. I will never run a used bag from one vehicle on something else. After time they become used to a certain range of motion, and certain angles.

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
they don't look used, and he said they aren't so im assuming they aren't. I don't mind used stuff but used bags is something I wouldn't want to try. but I asked him like 3 diff times and he said he got them new and never used em, so I took his word for it, hopefully he was telling the truth. im pretty sure I could tell if they been put on but like I said, this is my first time around. and yes, those do look like some tall cups lol. ima have to get those cut down probably

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
What else will you be running in conjunction with these bags? I don't see any reason why the wouldn't provide enough lift unless you had excessive drop.

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
its completely stock right now, but if i do put these bags i might put drop spindles in the future, but thats it. the rear is just going to replace the springs on the trailing arms, and i want a monster notch. no body drop, no z frame, no dropmember, etc. i asked on another forum and they said they wouldnt lift enough, they are too small for my truck. but i dont see why really, i googled and there was a 72 c10 that had the rs-62's on all 4 corners.

Looks like abrasion in this pic.
Oh, and what Shane said. Buy new bags... you'll know what you're getting (including someone's neck to choke if something goes wrong with them).

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
the firestones are worthless imo.
i would use the slams, but i wouldnt have paid more than 80 seeing as slam stopped making those 4 years ago.You still need 2600 bags for the front |

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
Ya RS62 is old. If he told you they have them he may have not heard you clearly, as the new bags are RE-6.
I like Firestone bags honestly. Contitech 4-plys are still my favorite though. I also think that using a 2500 bag all around on a fullsize truck is too small. I try to fit a 2600 in minitrucks for the better ride, so I never go smaller on a fullsize.

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
Great idea. These guys aren't trying to rain on your parade to be mean, just speaking from experience.
I suggest you list them on Craigslist and buy new bags from a reputable dealer.

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
they already are listed but I emailed ***************** about their opinion on using these on my truck and of course they said no, but they offered to send me the ones I need if I pay for shipping and ship these to him, all I cover is shipping. they said as long as they have them in stock and mine haven't been installed that I can change them out even if I didn't buy from them. I explained to I got these from someone else, but they have never been mounted, only to the cups for a while. I sent him pics of every angle possible and he said they are fine go ahead and send em in. has anyone done this before with them?

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
For sure. I would take them up on that, because they likely can't resale any of those bags. The Slams I am sure of, because it's an outdated model that is known to crack after extended use.

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
well, I sent him pictures of them and he still said yes on the exchange. they really do look new except for the top mounting plate because the cups were bolted to them for so long. well I guess ill give em try and see if they really can exchange em

Re: What you guys think about this craigslist find?
i talked to ricky at ***************** and hes gonna give me 35 a bag for credit, so i got 70 bucks credit on anything in the store. hmm, what should i get. i seen the airlift 2600 dominators on sale for 60 bucks a peice, would these be good to get? or should i just use the 70 on random bag pieces such as airline, fittings, a tank, etc...
