Anyone with a 66 style truck titled as 67?

Hi guys.

I have a 67 chevy truck, and today at a car show I met three older guys (I am 41, these guys were 60-70s) and one of them said to me that I had a nice 68. I told him thanks, but it is a 67. They then spend the next 20 minutes trying to convince me that my truck was a 68 truck. They swore up and done that a true 67 chevy truck was the ealier (61 -66) style and that my truck was in fact a 68. I still don't believe them ( but they work at a body shop and have been in the field for over 50 years). I got to thinking about it, and while I am always looking for 67 chevy trucks for sale, several times now I have seen ads regarding 67 chevy truck for sale only to find out it is the earlier style truck body. So, my question it, does anyone here have a 61-66 style truck that is in fact titled as an early 67?

never saw that before, but i have a friend that has a 1966 truck that is titled as a 1965.and everything is true to the 66 only trucks.we ran the numbers and it was built at the freemont california factory.kind of rare to see a truck built that far away end up in tennessee.i guess anything is possible.

Re: Anyone with a 66 style truck titled as 67?

all new vehicles come out around october/november, maybe a 66 was still on the lot late in the year, and got titled as a 67 because of that...
but... those guys can talk till they are blue in the face, and you will never convince me that a 66 is a 67 title or not a 66 is a 66
that is like calling a 57 chevy car a 58... nothing is the same

Under that logic you would be just as likely to see a 67 titled as a 66.

Re: Anyone with a 66 style truck titled as 67?

All vehicles back then and today were built the previous year. ie)
A 1965 was built in 1964 and listed as a 1965
A 2009 was built in 2008 and listed as a 2009

There were overlapping months and parts were from both years

Some 1995 chevies built in 1995 with parts made in 1995 had 1994 parts on them as well This is why VIN numbers are important and why they all always needed and asked for. October and November is a the time everything gets confusing.

A 1968 pickup that was built in 1967 would be a 1968 if it was built in 1968 it would be a 1968.
a 1967 pickup that was built in 1966 would be a 1967 ditto the above

The change over occurs on different dates per mfg

New models are introduced mid year sometimes like the 69 and 70 camaro where a 1969 body was called a 1970 then mid year the body was changed.

Its still true today

Nothing to do with sitting on dealers lots

Re: Anyone with a 66 style truck titled as 67?

Let me guess one of these guys said"i use to own one of these, bought it from the show room floor back in 68"
the other guy had to top his friend and said "well i could not decide on the color so i had to buy 2 one blue and the other white"
they probably showed you how your truck had backup lights and theres no way those came on no 1966 truck.well i bet when those guys left they drove away in a s10 or a nissan .i just love it when that happens .do as i allways do ,nod your head and say some old saying like "well aint that a peach " they love that ****.and laugh your ass off on the inside.check out a pic of my 61 c-60

And to all the guys that are tring to answer this question with logic .these guys that where looking at his 66 would have to see the title of his truck and im willing to bet they did not get a gander at the vin plate much less his tittle.the bottom line is no matter what you own theres a guy out there willing to tell you exactly what you have.hell i might be guilty of that offence.probably am

my question is how they knew that by looking at the outward appearance of your truck?

I have occasionally seen '67 trucks for sale that say they are actually titled as a '66. I'm sure it could happen either way.

LOL, I didn’t know old guys smoked crack! But apparently they were pulling on the pipe pretty hard before the show.

I'm glad mine isn't titled 67. I think I would have to get it smogged in Nevada if it was. I'll keep the 66 title.

Re: Anyone with a 66 style truck titled as 67?

So as from a recent revelation a 1st series "55" Chev pickup looks just like a "54". There are lots of strange things that happen over the years but I think these guys were smokin' something or pullin' the leg as it may be...Vernski

I have a 1941 chevy ambulance the coach builder was divco but was not finisged tell 1942 so it is titled as a 1942. you can tell it was built in 1941 by chevy from the use of leather gruaments and key lock on oppiste side
