Thumbs up what did you get done (to your truck) this weekend?

Been a while since I've seen this title come up... used to happen every sunday.
I only had a few hrs on saturday since I had my son this weekend, but, I (finally) carpeted the rear cargo area. I've had the carpet for a year and a half... just never got around to it. Still a few things I want to do to finish it off, bit it looks a LOT better than bare yellow wood.

Yeah... I've been rollin it like this pretty much since I got it;

The tail gate, it came with the burb when i got it almost 2 years ago. I originally planned on making it nice first, but the squeeking and rattles from the old one were driving me insane, so i swapped it out.
The funny part, when i shined the flashlight inside to see what the rist level was on the inside.... I discovered a sponge... like 1/2 of a car wash sponge. I called CG, he didn't know anything about it... musta been from the member he got it off of?

Yep... another color added to the carnival ride.

I was rather shocked... the weatherstripping on the tailgate is held on with two real small phillips screws, and then glued on all around. Not only did the 2 screws come out with NO problem, but the seal came off with minimal damage that I was able to repair.

Now, I only hear a squeek once in a while on the freeway, the gate and hatch close so tight now, that with any luck, it won't leak any water anymore. (haven't washed it yet)

Please forgive the crappy photos... cell phone camera.

Re: what did you get done (to your truck) this weekend?

Very cool LHM!

I didn't do anything but keep an eye out for the UPS guy, since I ordered all new correct color and seamed side panel vinyl for my burb.

Ordered it almost 2 weeks ago, and it's due to show up any day now.

Once I get it I am gonna go like gang busters on my interior! I will put up some pics when I start, since I am excited to get my interior cleaned up just as nice as everything else.

Re: what did you get done (to your truck) this weekend?

Well,

I wanted to drive to Denver to pick up a pristine GMC tailgate for 100 bucks but had an argument with the wife over the money and that went out the window.

I planned to change out the radio from my 83 GMC to the 71 but that didn't work out so well. The radio from the 83 doesn't have FM. I figured this out after I had it all hooked up.

I decided to change out the passenger side mirror to one that didn't rattle so bad you can't see anything in it, but I mounted it too far forward the first time and now I have 3 extra holes in my door.

Took off the glove box door to paint it, sanded it, prepped it, hung it on a hook, and lost the paint can I was going to use. I just can't find it anywhere?

So, I decided to lock everything up and try again next weekend. This was one of those days that everything I touched turned to S**t.

Re: what did you get done (to your truck) this weekend?

Carpet is nice, Andy. Probably a lot quieter too. I got a sway bar on my '67, straightened the steering wheel out, and pulled my stereo for the millionth time, hoping it will be the last.

I had to work Friday and Saturday so today I just cleaned the hell out of my white stripe tires with Westley's and No Touch. Wanted to get the curb scuffs off of them. Looking good now!

Re: what did you get done (to your truck) this weekend?

Pulled out the pressure washer and started cleaning up the undercarriage of the '69. Needless to say... night and day difference!

I pulled out the original spare tire and to my amazement it was still a fairly decent tire. This is going on display in the garage.

Re: what did you get done (to your truck) this weekend?

My 'weekend' started Wed while I waited on the cable company to come fix the 'net...I pressure washed the engine bay, frame, and rear end. And then began removing un-needed parts from the 6.0, took the manifolds off and other 'stuff'. Sat AM I painted some of the crossmember, removed Trans X-member, washed more of the frame, removed Drive-shaft.

I hope to set the 6.0/4l80 in Wed if nothing else comes up this week.

Re: what did you get done (to your truck) this weekend?

After installing my new shocks, took the wife to dinner with some friends, got a couple compliments on the truck (had a beer to celebrate!!) and parked it for the rest of the weekend (too damn hot to drive with no A/C, unless there was a good reason to!).

Next weekend I'll probably cruise to the Brother's show behind the Orange Curtain... Then the following week is the big Cruise Night in Glendale (California, that is!).

Edelbrocks were MADE not dialed in right! I hate those dang things! Quadra-pukes are good, but I'll take a good old Holly any day.

Re: what did you get done (to your truck) this weekend?

Pulled the bed on my Dad's project truck so I could get to the front bed panel and back of the cab for minor body work...and get it in primer.

I only have a few more panels to coat with primer then the paint will fly.

I am hoping to get this done in July...
