Bucket seats

Are all of the bucket seats(mounting) the same for the 67-72 chevy truck?

Re: Bucket seats

I dont think buckets started till 69 however as buddy buckets were used in 67-68 and those mounted in the bench seat mounts. 69 - 72 mounting is the same , make sure you get truck brackets and not blazer brackets as those are different. Truck brackets the drivers seat slides, and passenger is stationary.

Re: Bucket seats

without going out to look, do all trucks come with the screw holes for buckets or a bench?

Re: Bucket seats

I'm not sure about the buddy buckets on the earlier trucks but the 69 to 72 trucks do not have the extra holes. There is an extra brace under the floor and several extra welded on tabs in the floor pan to mount the seats. You can go off the outer forward bench seat holes, space the seats out about 1" further outboard and drill holes to mount them and this will put you pretty close. If you use the stock outer bench seat holes with the buckets it will put them too close to the console. I have photos somewhere if I can find them or you can do a search. I think I have pictures of the brace in my build page below. I added the brace when I installed my seats.

Re: Bucket seats

Ok, so I sold my bench seat to put in my newly re-upholstered 69-72 black/houndstooth buckets in and I'm trying to figure the best way to bolt these in? If I go off the outer bench holes (closest to the steering wheel) the seat seems really close to the steering wheel (as if I'm driving my wifes van). The back of the seat is also touching the back of the cab(??) I don't know if the seats have developed a "lean" to the back over the years or what, but I'm a little frustrated. I've got the slide tracks as far forward as they will go and I've got no room to slide the seat front to back.

Does this sound normal to all you who have swapped from bench to buckets?

I'm considering having to mount all new holes with the front mounting brackets behind the raised rib in the floorboard where the bench was bolted to and then having to shim the back so the seat doesnt touch the cab??

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has run into this, and, where did your mounting holes fall?

Re: Bucket seats

Mine adjusted all the way back touch the cab and yes they do lean back. Here are the best photos I have of the drawing out of the assembly manual and you see that the center line of the front bolts is the same as the bench seat. The outmost holes closest to the doors should be about an inch further out than the bench seat. The measurements in the assembly manual don't show this real well. I also included a couple of pics from way back when I first installed them. Mine are in the exact spot the factory intended because I also installed the front brace under the floor board.

Hope this helps
