hey all,
I tried to install my powersteering setup on my new gm crate. It seems as the bracket setup will not work with a 8in balancer. my previous motor had a 7 in balancer. Any of you guys run into this problem and what was the soluton?........thanks

Does your new crate have a long water pump? If so you will need all the pulleys and brackets off of the old engine along with the short pump.

no I have the short pump on the new motor. it seems that the 8 in balancer is interfering with the bottom pump bracket. I quess I could switch to a 7in balancer, but there should be a simpler solution.

is there a different bracket setup for use with a larger vibration damper? I would prefer to keep the larger damper installed.

You have a bracket for a small balancer. Just find the correct bracket for the large balancer. Shouldn't be too tough to do . Or you could buy a new bracket. If you want a new one and the truck catologs don't offer one go to Ground Up restoration parts. Find one for a 68 and older application with short water pump. I bought one there for my El Camino. Get the one listed for an L-79 327.They all had the large balancer with the short pump.
