My blazer used as brakes...
Before and After a guy ran a red light and used my blazer as brakes. Does it look fixable?

Re: My blazer use as brakes...
Looks like the frame came out of it unscathed. By all means, your Blazer can be repaired good as new. I've fixed a lot worse. Sorry about the accident....

Re: My blazer use as brakes...
that really sucks. This makes me want to stay the hell out of CA. Im sure it can be fixed though, take it to a GOOD body shop and see what they say. That would be a good starting point.

Re: My blazer use as brakes...
That sucks man, When stuff like that happens I try not to free the beast ans mostly succeed.
It looks fixable from here.... The main concern would be how the door frame is and how bad the rocker is. It will need to have some pulling done on it and a new rocker. Looks like the door took most of it which can be good because the door is relatively easily replaced. However when the door got hit how did it pull on the striker and the door hinge mounting points? The frame itself SHOULD be fine. Be sure to check the hardtop for cracks. and check the whole body for being twisted. I got similar damage on my 78 last july. It ended up needing a new inner and outer fender, door, rocker, and they had to pull and straighten the front right cab corner. Also my wheel took a lot of the hit and it trashed the whole front end all the way to the steering box. It even ruined one control arm. The whole body shop cost for me was around $3500 for repairs and a full repaint BC/CC with extra clear. It may not look too bad but the front of the rocker panel was shoved inward about 2 to 2.5 inches. I also got my lower bedside relocated inward about 2 or 3 inches. She hit everything except the rear side of the cab. Here's the cab corner before they fixed it up Had to pull it out arouns 2 or so inches and weld in a new rocker. It looked worse in person, but it got all fixed up relatively simple and now I have a like new truck. Insurance probably won't be much help though if you have normal insurance. I think they gave me $1700 for mine in a total loss and let me keep it. Good luck with it! |

Re: My blazer used as brakes...
Damage like that can be deceiving. I have spent time in body shops both in training & in everyday working. Those are the vehicles that often will surprise you how much it can cost to repair RIGHT. Not to rain on your parade, but I think it may be pretty pricey to fix. It is hard to say without seeing it and getting to check things all the way around the Blazer. Good luck to you!
Is it repairable?... Of course! Is it reasonable to fix?... Hard saying.

Re: My blazer used as brakes...
Oh Oww OWWH MY Neck hurts! And my hip too!
Hey how did the other guy fair in the crash? I have uninsured motorists coverage, and I've used it twice. Here in Texas we can seize a car that hits us with no insurance. I look both ways at a green light because there are so many illegals and women drivers. Last edited by heavychevy79; 07-10-2009 at 02:09 AM. |

Re: My blazer used as brakes...
You know here in Texas everyone is *****ing because the state has implemented a new program where by in which the man can run your plates and see if you have insurance. If you don't they can pull you over, cite you and impound your car.
I like the idea, because it will help put a lid on crap like this. Really sorry to see that about your truck man, I hope you get it fixed.

Yep I love that law. I just got pulled over and the fact that he only asked to see my license caught me off guard. Yeah they have all of that info on a neat little computer. It was a SAPD bike cop that pulled me over. Sorry about the accident. I know I would be a little heated if someone down here took out one of the "kids" with no insurance... It looks like you can fix it, but it all depends on funds available and how much you truly love THAT truck. J |

Just cut the section out of a cab? Replace the other parts?
What mirrors were you running? Better photos?
