Brake lines & bleeding ?'s - Round 2
Neighbor came over to help bleed brakes. Fronts done w/o problem. Rears started fine, then flow went WAY down. Checked level in master, much more than enough (never got low/always at least half full). Checked for leaks, none found. I've ran a 1.5 quarts of fluid through at this point. Tried fronts again, flow is fine/no bubbles. I know its been a long time since I last blead brakes but I don't remember this ever happening.
Any ideas?????? Thanks....don t. .... ------------------ It aint gonna be a trailer queen, its gotta work, just like me. 3/4 ton,350 w/HEI, 79 q-jet, th400, Dana 60. |

Let it sit, undisturbed for about 5 minutes, then try again. If there is still a flow problem check around the base of the master cylinder. Make sure there is no fluid leaking from the rear between the master cylinder and booster/firewall. Which would indicate a leaky cup. Also when a system as a large air pocket in one of the loops or high points its hard to get it out and will cause what problems your having.
How is the pedal height and feel? Remember, the front(disc)caliper will have much more fluid going to it than the rear(drum) ------------------ Pictures and more... piston@zkast.com '71 LWB 350/350T, PS/PB Special options? "How is the pedal height and feel? " .......would go to floor if I let it, springs right back up when rlsed.
My bro called back. First thing he asked was whether I sealed master w/manual bleed, I didn't. He says to bleed master again, and start over. Something about no vaccuum/might have gotten air in mstr?? It made sense but what do I know, im just an old truck-lovin computer geek(grin). Thanks again.....don t. ..... ------------------ It aint gonna be a trailer queen, its gotta work, just like me. 3/4 ton,350 w/HEI, 79 q-jet, th400, Dana 60. |

If Im reading that right... Yes you must close all other lines, fittings, bleeders when manually bleeding at the wheels. He's right on track though, fill it back up, bleed the master and make sure you have good flow from the smaller resevour and work your way back the wheels.
Good luck with it. ------------------ Pictures and more... piston@zkast.com '71 LWB 350/350T, PS/PB Special options? Yes, RUST... Need some? ------------------------------------------ Webmaster/Team owner www.zkast.com Garrett - Olathe, Kansas |

Check the rear flex hose they collapse on the inside and look good on the outside.

Check the proportioning valve, it may not be centered!
If all else fails,,,back off a few turns on the nuts that hold master on and try bleeding again. It's possible the push pin is too long and holding the master cylinder piston from coming all the way back, this won't allow fluid to pass through. If this is the case, it's possible you have the wrong master on there or you need to adjust the push pin attached to your peddle assembly. ------------------ 1971 C10 swb stepside 350/700R4/3.73posi Killingworth, Connecticut [This message has been edited by Gordo (edited May 19, 2002).]
