Door Switches
Hey guys,
I have been looking for some door switches to turn on courtesy lights in the floor board. I found these (Delco D6030) used on 80's - 90's GM cars. they were $4.20 each from Rock Auto. My 65 has factory holes in the door jambs that look like they were made for these switches. They fit perfectly. They are sort of self adjusting. The bushing is a press fit on the tube. When you close the door for the first time they adjust to the correct position by sliding on that press fit. They work like a champ. 3/8" fine (SAE) nuts fit the threads. Standard push on connectors fit the connection. No modification to the truck required! TR

Re: Door Switches
Yep Chief,
I think you are right but those empty holes sure needed to be filled up with something. Easy to route the wires under the sill plate. My buddy has a t****aTundra and the door switches mount like these... TR

Re: Door Switches
Good idea. Like you said easier to run the wires that way. BTW that hole is originally for a rubber bumper.

Re: Door Switches
Thanks Pro & Cap'n
It didn't occur to me to look at the assembly manual. Bumpers sure enough. Maybe that's why my doors close so easily. They probably cut them off and threw them away when the truck was painted. Oh well, they are switch holes now. TR

Nice Job !!!
I bought some GM switches also (alarm and lights). I was going to look for a location but I like where yours are installed. Good idea. Poppy |
