backfiring 350v 5.7l man trans
Hi, went through process of finding tdc. Have timed eng at 8d btdc with vacumm plugged and hose plugged. When i hooked up the vac hose the timing changed TO advance. The eng starts but when i accel the carb backfires. Do i have to take out the dist and find tdc again.

Normally if it backfires through the carb the timing is retared.
Turn it counter clockwise and see if that helps before you pull it. |

When you plug the vac hose in at idle on a stock setup, the timing shouldn't change. If it does, the hose is plugged into the wrong port. You need to find a ported vac source instead of full manifold source.
