In need of a dollar value for insurance

I recently purchased a 1983 Chevy C20 Silverado with Factory 454 V8 engine. It has a 14 bolt posi 3.73 rear. Automatic transmission (haven't looked which one). Cruise control. Factory AC. Original working AM/FM/Casette radio. Electric windows. Factory clock. Etc. Only 28,000 original miles. Truck is all original and unmolested. Original paint and interior. One owner truck. Looks like it wasn't used much as even the bed looks good. Two-tone paint still holds a nice shine. No dents, just a few swirls in the paint. Interior is in great shape, no stains, no cracks in dash, no rips/wear etc. No rust anywhere, not even under the truck. Everything works.

I gave $2375 for it but I think it is worth more than that.

Talked to my insurance agent yesterday and she wants me to give her a $ value.

What do you think this truck is worth?

Just realized I posted in the wrong sub forum...

Is there an admin that can move my post to: The 1973 - 1987 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Message Board.

Your insurance company didn't ask for a professional appraisal?

Re: In need of a dollar value for insurance

My dad's insurance company for the Vette and El Camino just asked for a $ value from him and that's what they base the rate off of.

$10k is a nice round number.

Wow. Not up here, if you wanna insure it for more than say, Kelly Blue Book, you need a professional appraisal.

Re: In need of a dollar value for insurance

No, they did not ask for a professional appraisal. they will ask for an appraisal when they think my value is too excessive.

My insurance agent does want to see the truck in person and take pictures for her file. She wants me too put a reasonable value on it.

So what would the replacement value be? AND if you would sell this truck, how much would you ask for it or pay for it?

That's the thing. Here they would look at Blue Book, which means it's worth nothing. In your case, if all they want is is a reasonable value, find some similar trucks, say using Google, that are for sale and print of that info for them to see.

Re: In need of a dollar value for insurance

It's obvious that the truck was someones "Camper Special" that was probably only used for camping trips and stored inside when not in use.

Being that it is pristine condition gives it good value. My "guesstimate" would be 4500.

ya I was going to say about 5 here. to give you an idea. I was at a truck show last weekend. there was a 73 c 20 that had been well used but had a newer motor and fully documented and he was trying to sell it for over 5 which was the highest NADA value. and it was a ho-hum truck.

there is no way I would buy that truck for over 5k. but yours! heeeccckkkk yeah!
