Vin plate issues/questions

Hey Guys, I was curious if any of you have had problems registering your trucks when the vin plate is missing. When i bought my truck it did not have the door plate. The one on the glove box door is there, but its a paper sticker. Granted it has held up for 40 years butttttttt...... Its there a place that makes new vin plates or something you can affix to the door jamb?
And i have thought about getting one from a JY however that could pose problems. One they wont sell you just the plate they want you to buy the whole truck.

Re: Vin plate issues/questions

What I would probably do is go the Department of Motor Vehicles in your state and ask this question. You might have to go to the highway Patrol and get a new VIN issued.

Re: Vin plate issues/questions

be prepaired to jump through some hoops, and be able to answer questions like
where did you buy it
from whom did you buy it
did you get a title
is the cab original
does the VIN in the SPID match the frame
if there is a title, does it match the frame and SPID
Be prepaired to document all of this... and do it in triplicate... and keep a copy of everything for yourself.
The state is your only LEGAL way of getting this fixed.
