Squeaking noise from power steering?????
I have started work on my 66 4x4 and its one thing at a time. It has a steering box from a 1978 chevy 3/4 ton donor truck along with the pump. My question is when I turn the wheel either way it makes a squeel/squeek noise like when you try to keep turning after the steering is maxed out. It does it no matter where the wheels are, sometimes its louder than other times. It has 33 inch tires but I dont think it should be doing this. Do I need a new pump?? Any thoughts??? Thanks

Re: Squeaking noise from power steering?????
Your pump may be going out, but I would check belt tension/alignment first. Also I would check all the tie-rods and the drag link and make sure that everything is well lubricated and not binding up.....
Do the easy stuff first......
