RV 454 conversion ??
I have a 72 C-10 LB and I'm looking to convert from my 307ci/sm465 to a 454ci/th400 setup. Someone locally is selling a 454/th400 setup out of a 76 Motorhome/RV. Is there any real differences with a RV motor or trans? And how difficult is the swap? Any advice? All help is greatly appreciated. What would be a fair price to offer him for it? I do understand some of the things I will need for the conversion like-
radiator upgrade motor mounts brackets brake pedal for automatic? shifter http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...lies/imnew.gif Last edited by mschm22; 07-12-2009 at 11:43 PM. |

Re: RV 454 conversion ??
I'm going to go against the grain here... I drove a '69 Chevy 3/4 ton for 10 years with a 307/SM465 and couldn't have been happier with it. I know the 454 will have more power, faster, etc... But you have a "can't kill it" drive train right now... That 307 with a mild cam and decent intake/carb/exhaust is a great set up... Dang, I'm getting old... When I had the truck, I always wanted 4,000 HP...
