fiber optic light for shift pointer

Where does the end of the fiber optic light for the shift pointer plug in at. I was told the instrument cluster, but my 72 chevy truck has no place on the instrument cluster to plug it any. This truck was a manual 3-speed, does that make a difference. Any help appreciated.

Does the fiber optic cable you have already have a light socket on there?
If so, you just unplug one light from your inst. cluster, (the inner light on the speedo is where GM put it) and install the one on the optical deal.

THE FIBER OPTIC CABLE PLUGS INTO ONE OF THESE LIGHT-SOURCE LIGHT BULB RECEPTICALS, THAT GOES IN PLACE OF ONE OF YOUR DASH LIGHTS. IF YOU NEED ONE I HAVE AN EXTRA ONE THAT YOU CAN HAVE FOR $8 SHIPPED TO YOUR DOOR.

When I had the steering wheel off; replaced the turn signal mechanism; I also replaced the fiber optic cable... Used a red ' grain of wheat' lamp.. these lamps are available at model railroad supply outlet. and Radio Shack, I believe....
use a small resistor in serie's with the lamp if you wish to reduce the brightness....wired to the dash gauges circuit board so that the lamp would dim along with the dash lites..... gives a more even light than the fiber optic cable in my opinion...

Used bulb in mine out of a plastic toggle switch that lights up the handle when switch is on and soldered it to some flexible wire--hooked it to dash lights.

does anyone else laugh when the new car makers bragg about hoe modern or cutting edge their cars are with the fibor optics when our old trucks had them also?

Wow...what page was this 8 month thread on?
I laugh more at the 'options' they list...like a catilitic converter...or air bags...I mean what the h*ll...are the wheels an option? It's not like you can order one without a catilitic converter, or air bag.
I also laugh at the styling *if you want to call it that*, but that is just a matter of good taste...which few manufacturers seem to have these days.
The Honda element looks liek a 5 year olds drawing.

It 's like all the new designers went to the same school, and were taught by the same teacher. The new vehicles look so much alike it is getting hard to tell one from the other.Even painting the cars the same few colors.

Well my '67 certainly had the optic cable. Got the optic cable (new) but no lamp socket for the instrument panel end.
