Any american made patch panels
I need a pair of cab corners and just can not bring myself to weld in something made in China. I will figure out something else before that happens. My truck will remain American made if I can.

Re: Any american made patch panels
just hit the parts board, there's a number of cabs right now being parted out. I would imagine you could get some real GM metal to weld back in.... prolly cheaper and fit better than some repops anyways...

can't say I used one of their door shells, I did use their floor panels, cab corners, door pillar and a few other pieces.

Re: Any american made patch panels
I used a few of there items on a 62 and the fit was very good and nice thick metal. I was thinking it was just so much heavier than the stuff "a vendor" was selling at carlisle

And checking the price, at first glance they appear to be as reasonable as anyone. I was thinking American made may be quite a bit higher priced. I will be contacting them for my needs. We all need to buy American and keep some jobs here. |

Re: Any american made patch panels
dont believe TABCO makes doors or tailgates---just patch panels. Their quality is better then Tiwan crap and their prices are very reasonable.

Re: Any american made patch panels
So now I have a question for all of the vendors on this site. Why would you be selling lesser parts made in China or elsewhere if better American parts are available. Ok $$$$$ make sense, but maybe offer both for those of us not minding spending an extra couple of bucks for something made here. I know it is far too late to stop where we have gone with things in this country. Heck by the time I even heard things were made in china, every single store label I saw was from there. It snuck up on us all and now we are pretty well screwed. I now look for made in Japan and Made in Mexico as a sign of Quality!!

Just for info we do carry alot of american made panels. We in fact used to sell Tabco but most customers and even board members did not want to pay the difference in Price. We had to sell them with hardly any profit at all. In fact we sold most all at the same price we we sell the imported parts for just to move them. America does export close to 4 billion in parts a year to Asia for there cars. The largest plastic part and chrome plater in the world is in Tennessee. There parts are used by most all Asian cars. There are quite a few stamping plants still in America making american parts. Unfortunately there is just not a big market for them to make them. We are members of the Precision Metalforming Association and can give you a list of all the companies if you like As far as Tabco vs Taiwan we have installed both and there really is not that much difference in the Quality. We do this for a living and we know how to install them . Alot of people here do it once and complain about the fit. Tabco parts have their issues to and if uou can do body work they can be worked out. When you have non body men doing it the tend to complain. It takes skill to put parts on. If you don't have the skills people will blame stuff. If you don't know how to do it Tabco will cause just as much problems. We would like to sell All American made parts for these trucksbut if you can come up with the money we can give you the companies to stamp them out. There are thank god a few of them that do. Sorry to rant and rave but I don't think any vendor on here prefers to sell them. And the truth is actually there are high quality parts that come from Tw its just not sheetmetal parts for these trucks.Actually some of the parts the Gm sells are made overseas Not everything TAbco sells in from USA. |

Re: Any american made patch panels
Not all of Tabco parts are USA made. The do sell import metal as well so you need to ask before you buy. They do have some exclusive parts that no one else carries that is USA made

Re: Any american made patch panels
I used to purchase US patch panels at the swap meets from scrapped cabs. I now cut salvageable parts from fenders etc. that I am going to scrap since they are less expensive and usually fit better than repops. It takes a bit longer to clean them up but I consider them "free" sheet metal and they usually fit better than some repop sheet metal. I guess I should start saving floors and firewalls for possible use.
