picked up a 67 short fleet

I picked up a 67 short fleet last night. its a zero option truck. it literally only shows one option on the SPID. deluxe air heater, whatever that means. Anyway, its a pretty clean original.84K original miles, rebuilt 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree, the bed is really nice, the inside especially, since it has had a camper shell on it since it was new. I took it around the block this morning, needs a brake job bad!!

I would love to find a truck like that. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it?

I dont plan to have too much fun with it, its for sale.
I will replace the rockers in a week or so if it doesnt sell, then add disc brakes in a couple more weeks, if i still have it.

Re: picked up a 67 short fleet

Thats a good looking original. You dont see (or I don't at least) alot of these painted black from the factory. Unless the rockers are just shot it looks like it has the right patina to just stay the way it is.

Re: picked up a 67 short fleet

the only option listed is the heater, which technicly was standard equipment. 67 was the first year that the heater was base model equipmnt, but GM told the dealers that if it wasn't requested, then it would be a credited delete. So it was treated like a no cost option. However, this was only in 67 that it was treated like this.
It is odd however, that the paint was not listed. The base equipment paint color was the fawn like on the inside if memory serves. Colors were supposed to be listed as an option.

I also thought it was odd that the color was not listed.
I was also curious about the steel floor bed. I assumed that the wood floor would have been standard

Re: picked up a 67 short fleet

no, the steel floor was standard on fleet sides with wood as an option, then on all stepsides and longhorns (which showed up in march or 68) were avalible only with wood.

Man, if I was you I would hold on to that! If I didn't live 1500 miles away, have three other trucks, the Bel Air, too many bills etc.... I would pick that up (just to say I had the lowest optioned 67 around or maybe I would take it apart and never get it back together!) Nice truck-real cool!

Hey Oldskool71, you only got one truck (I'm sure you have room in your garage, driveway or street for this one). You can't be on this forum for long without having a few projects. Remember, just tell the wife it's an investment!
