LCA Cross shaft- Is this Moog?

I ordered Moog LCA cross shafts for my truck from Rock Auto. When I opened the the boxes I noticed that they had different finishes, and the shafts stopped at different points (where the end cap screws into). If you look at the picture you will notice that the darker one is similar to the originial (dirty), they are both the same length, and the dimple is in the same spot. I returned the lighter one the other day, and they sent me another however, it is the same (lighter). Should I have sent the darker one back? My concern is that the lighter one shaft is not the same as the original (larger gap next to end caps). Did one of the boxes have another brand part in it? I know there are some folks that are working on similar projects right now that may be able to chime in.
I'll show pics of the rebuild when it is all wrapped up. Thanks!

I would return the lighter one. Not that it wouldn't work and I don't know if it is moog or not, but I would want them to match. Once the grease seals are installed you may not be able to tell the difference though. Moog manufactures parts for different parts stores, like NAPA for example. Those parts tend to be smaller and lighter than the "MOOG" brand name box parts. You could have gotten a couple of misboxed parts. WES

Thank you for the quick reply, what you said is what I was thinking. I just do not want to return the part a second time just to receive the same style back. I'll give them a call. Of course of all the parts I purchased I have issues with the ones bought online and not locally.

Ya, that makes it tough. I would email the pictures to the parts house and explain to them what you want. Then they should be able to go through the boxes befor they ship. WES

I called Rock Auto who called Moog (3-way), Moog said there was a design change. I guess I will just press with it.

Why in the heck would Moog "change" a part that has been around for 40+ years. There was nothing wrong with the original design. I bought my Moog shafts earlier this year and both were the upper style.

I don't know, I don't think I would go with the "new" design and get Rock Auto to send you two identical "old" design... if it was me...

looks like a 10 and 20 series lca shaft. Find a Rare Part Inc, vendor and get it from them.

Been in the parts business for 30 years and what you may have is 1 of them re-boxed. It is not out of the ordinary for a parts store to change lines (Moog,TRW,Etc.) and instead of changing a large inventory store, they just come in and re-box from 1 brand to another. I'd order 2 more and compare all 4 if it were me.
