SBC to BBC

My dad worked out a deal with his buddy at work and got me a 502 block to build. It's had all the machine work done so the block is like new. Anyway, I've been doing some research but can't find the answers I'm looking for. If I get some BB engine mounts, will they bolt up in the same location/holes as the SB mounts? I've read I can use the SB mounts but I'm going to get some BB mounts because they are a bit thicker to withstand the generally higher torque with the big block. The swap won't be happening until probably next summer as I'm building the block paycheck to paycheck.

Sorry for the rambling,
.:Nova

Re: SBC to BBC

You will need BBC engine stands as the small block stands won't work for the big block engine.
(Unless it is a 4x4).

4wd or 2wd? If it's a 4x4 you'll likely run into some more problems down the road when fitting the BB.

Re: SBC to BBC

I pulled my oe 327 and installed a 454, used small block everything and installed 1/4 inch spacer plates between the frame stand and motor mount...so i didn't have to dent the headers....didn't know better 15 years ago and its still in there today...

Re: SBC to BBC

It's 4wd with a 6" lift & 35's. I'm excited to start building this thing. Hopefully when I'm done it will have upwards of 500 of each. =)
