removing bellhousing??
how do i remove the bellhousing on my 66 chevy? i already took out the tranny and removed the bolts from the bellhousing to the block. i cant seem to get it out! any ideas?

if you removed all the bolts and it wont come off get some wd40 and a rubber mallet or use a hammer with some padding

There are bolts from the bellhousing to the "crossmember".It's been a while but IIRC you can get to them thru the bottom of the bellhousing.They are on either side angled up.

You need to remove the sheetmetal dust shields from the lower half of the bellhousing too. Other wise the flywheel and clutch are trapped inside of the bellhousing.

That's funny......this is an easy one to miss. I just put a new Centerforce DF in my truck. I can tell you this. Sometimes your dowel pins on each side of your block which is used to help align the bell housing can cause that dude to stick on there really good. I just used a gasket scraper and a little force to work/pry it off. It was pretty easy but not something I could just do with my hands. |

Thanks guys. I will try using some WD40. The flywheel and clutch are stuck inside. Check out some pics of my truck.
