'69 3/4T 2wd Need's New Rear - What Fits?

Truck had d-60 w/ 4.10's and housing and pinion are shot so I'm now sourcing a replacement.

Me and a buddy have a line on a 4x4 (80's?) w/ 4.10's that we could part out w/ each other.

He also has some 3/4 ton rears w/ 3.73's laying around.

I believe I want to stay w/ 4.10's but I'm open for suggestions. (I assume 4.10's best w/ full load and a 350 powerplant) Trucks purpose is to tow a camper, car trailer, and small 4x4 pickup.

My main question is which rears will be the best fit? Width should be ok I assume but what about spring perch size and location between the different years and body styles?

If one of those 3.73 rears has matching perches I think I will roll it under and see how it goes for now since I will not have trailer and/or camper till truck is up to par.

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

wish you were close to me, I have a 68 3/4 ton that I'll be putting on a 1/2 ton frame. The days of this truck doing hard work and lots of towing hauling are over. Jim

The only bolt-ins will be pre-73 GM Dana60s and Corporate HO52s.The`73-up 14-bolts only require spring and shock mounts moved. It`s no big deal.Keep the 4.10s.You won`t regret it.

Yep. This is what I was expecting. I also figured that if I was gunna be relocating mounts I would stick w/ 4.10's. The 3.73's would have been a "lets just get her on the road cuz they fit"

Thanks for the offer there Hugger. My wife has convinced herself that a rear end out of a newer truck is better (she may be right). And if momma's happy, I'm happy. Hope your swap goes well.

Just out of curiosity, are replacement drums any cheaper for a newer rear end? I believe drums for that old axle were around 300 bones. Each.

if it is a 1 ton 73+ truck, the spring pads will be the right width, but the shock mounts will need redone, iirc

Don't know about the newer ones but I just bought a set of rear drums for my D-60 at AutoZone for $67 ea.
