Re: 68 carb help
Why do you need to replace the carb?If the manual choke is hooked up and adjusted right it should work fine.If the carb needs rebuilt then they are simple enough to do.If the carb body is warped then I feel sorry for you since they seem to be hard to find.
Let us know why you think it needs to be replaced with an automatic choke and I'm sure someone has dealt with it before.

Re: 68 carb help
thanks for replying guys
here is the story i rebuild the carb twice the linkage got a little bent and was straighten out the slide got bent in the carb or plumger rod this all got worse as my bracket for the choke wire stoped holding sucure and wouldn't allow the choke cable to slide freely it also was just about out of lenght. my neighbor tried to fix it and ripped out the old cable and replaced with a longer one. in the process he had to elimanate the fixturers for the pull choke and know looks like **** i guess im just fed up over all i guess the carb works. to top it off when i was attaching the choke wire i lost the little gold tub the wirer slides into |

Re: 68 carb help
i feel the pain, my carb is giving me probs. Its a monjet as well. I need the inlet nut that the gas line screws into. Hope you get it working. I have seen in the LMC catalog some chokes you can order. Maybe you should look at them.

Re: 68 carb help
I did quite a bit of searching before I decided to rebuild mine.I had the same problem as jsmithbm. The best advice I can give you is to check with the local speed shop(if you have one)or maybe attend a swap meet.Someone there may know a carb pro to hook you up with.I looked for a carb for about a week and found one listed (I think it was "Champion") but when I called they did not have one in stock and didn't really know when they would get one. There are lots of members here that have swapped out 6 cyl for a 350 and one of them may have one.Check the for sale ads in the classifieds. The other option is to look for a old school wrecking yard with one of these trucks in it.I'm a big fan of the 6 so I really wish I could help more. There may be someone with better advice over on "Inlinersinternational.com"

Re: 68 carb help
Try to find a local carb rebuilder that can exchange yours with one he may have or maybe he can repair yours. The older shops often have old carbs and parts lying around that are no longer being produced. Pick a part may also be a good source. Try Ebay, too.
