So has anybody here built there our custom Frame that lays on the ground and if you have do you have a detailed diagram of the build, with measurements, crossmembers, weld points, size of square tubeing used, what front end you used, rear end, best suspension, best air bags and air system, etc. and if nobody has built one from scratch what is the easiest way to build one useing a short box frame.

Re: Help with my 52 chevy
why not just buy a shortbed frame?
Building your own custom frame is a pretty complicated and involved process that you shouldn't attempt unless you know a lot about custom frames. Parts trucks are realitively easy to come by, and not that expensive either. Last edited by MrTucker; 07-21-2009 at 10:48 AM. |

Just an observation, but you're going to be putting your running boards and brackets on the ground well before you put the stock frame on the ground.

Re: Help with my 52 chevy
I have a question for you, how short do you want your bed? I started out with a long bed, turned out to be garbage, and I found a good one on craigslist; cut it down and made my own shorter bed.
The easiest way, I think, to put your truck on the ground would be to use the s10. You can get almost any s10 and make it the wheel base you want. Trying to slam your stock frame would be harder than you think. What is the skill level that your at? I mean if you know what your doing with all the suspension parts being welded on to a custom frame that your building, then have at it. I would say to work off your original; taking measurements and what ever else you would need. But if your starting out and this is your first build (which we don't know, you don't have an intro) you need to do a lot of research before you go jumping in the deep end. If you want to build a great truck, do your research and find out how to do what you want to do. There are a lot of guys on here that can help you. I know that there is a guy in the 67-72 section that made his own frame, maybe you can find him and ask him what steps you should take. Then make your plans and stick to them. I'm not trying to be a D!(&, I just don't know how much you know about all this. I'm just trying to inform you on what you'll be getting into.
