HD Suspension drop?....

Ive been looking.. Cant seem to find the answer...

I have a 79 GMC with the HD front and rear suspension, it is a 2wd truck. Just woundering what kits are perfered by you guys, Im not looking to "Bag" or "Airride" it... just a simple drop. Something to give it a lil Hot rod look?

Oh pics of 79ish trucks dropped too... Inspiration...

Thanks

Re: HD Suspension drop?....

What size tires are you going to run? I normally recommend a 5/7 drop but it depends on the height of the tire you want to run.

Re: HD Suspension drop?....

I plan on running 235/70/15... I have 235/75/15's on it now...

So the HD front suspension is typically the same as a standard... just a HD coil spring is all?

On the rear I have 6 leafs... I guessing I have to remove some and set in a helper leaf? Im using this to tow... so that is why Im ask is all...

Flamingbig10... that is a nice truck... Im trying hard not to do flames this time... going for the old guy scheme... 2tone

Re: HD Suspension drop?....

thanks diamond, the heavy duty packages would be a heavy half it came with larger front and rear brakes heavy duty coils, at least 6 leafs and a12 bolt rear end and any lower component will work if you get spindles you will need ones for 1 1/4 brake rotors if you want to tuck tires I would with a 5/7 if want to a little gap between the top tires and fender wells go with a 3/4 drop

Re: HD Suspension drop?....

3/4 drop is what Im looking for.. nice and suddle...

Thanks for the info... Im trying to read up on dropping the front... Ive done cars.. but trucks.. my first.. heck I havent a clue what a spindle is.. but Im looking... I will get there I have plenty of time...

And this is the truck I had... with the 22" wheels.. drop wasnt in the plans... notice the suddle flames.. I cant seem to get away from them.. keep popping up on every thing I own.. I had to sell this after I lost my job... and now I have my car about to be repo'd... But the GMC is free and clear ride...
