weather striping help !
My husband, put my new weather striping on the truck two weeks ago. It is falling off now. What kind of glue should we use ? I am tired of the weather striping falling everytime I drive my truck. The pic shows what I have to deal with.
He must have used the wrong glue. Thanks for the help in advance. Jenna |

Use weather-stripping adhesive.
You should be able to pick it up at any parts store. |

3M actually makes a product called Weather Strip Adhesive.
You can find it at almost all Auto/Parts places. You might want to check in the Auto body section though. I beleive it comes in two colors but the black is probably the color for the job. Follow the directions and it will definately do the job. This stuff is also available through the usual suspects that are online vendors for truck parts. Have fun

The 3M stuff works great. Read the instructions, do what it says and it will NEVER come down, well at least not for another 30 or so years. If you cant find it let me know and I'll send you a tube Part # 8001 or something like that

looks like he used the right wheather strip adhesive, but didn't prep very well, you have to strip that old glue off better to get the new stuff to stick good.

A clean surface is critical.

Clean surface and warm temperatures. I applied mine in colder temps, and is not sticky as well as it should.

Even with the proper adhesive and suface prep the weatherstrip tends "pull away" before the glue sets up. I used cheap plastic spring clamps that I bought at wal-mart to hold it in place while the 3-m stuff sets up
