Re: is it possible?

Sounds like a lot of welding, hammering and swearing. Have to connect the steering column, brakes, all the brake lines, fuel lines, etc lines, radiator/fan, shifter, a/c, heater, wiring, custom gas tank, fuel filler, bumpers, and anything else that passes from the body to the frame.

Re: is it possible?

wheel base needs modified, the frame needs flattened/home made body lift...
it's doable, but not practicly.

Re: is it possible?

JW? How do the frames on the late 70's model vehicles interchange with ours?

The same reason you would not steer a car with your feet, just a bad Idea. Nothing is close between those years except the # of wheels. A much better Idea would be to find a 1987 4x4 and swap trans/tranfercase and axles to your truck. or buy a 67-72 4x4 frame to put your cab on. JMO

Re: is it possible?

I though I saw the guys from powerblock start a project like this but with a ford. Check it out, it may give some clues as to what challenges to expect.

Well, everythings a lot of trouble anyway.......so consider this. Instead of a 1990 model why not consider a donor 2000 and up complete runing gear with the 5.3 and tranny already installed?
I love my 2000 Z71..lots of power and great ride, yada yada and 16mpg on a 4x4

there are wrecked donor trucks out there that would be great candidates for the swap

I can't see were it says it is on a 90's frame. The truck looks good.

Re: is it possible?

Infact it's not on a 90's frame unless they did a solid axle swap.

So, it makes me wounder if I am talking about the same truck you are. Post a pic of it if this isn't it. We love pics!!!!
