Need upholstery help!

I am getting primed up to re-upholster the 1970 Blazer seats. They are the plain jane utility buckets and rear seat. I understand that the plain jane vinyl covers that they came with are not being reproduced and the same material for the bench seat trucks is also not being reproduced so I could not buy bench seat stuff and fashion it into what I needed. That is true, isn't it? Please let me know. My next step would be to get something as close to what was original and get that fashioned into fairly close looking seat covers. Anyone with upholstery experience chime right in. I want to perserve as much of an original stock look as possible so I will want to perserve as much of the original lines as possible. Please help, any vendors or upholsterers please assist me in the quest! Thanks

Re: Need upholstery help!

I just received samples from SMS up in the Oregan State area, 503-263-3535 and they can make the exact match to the utility seat material (embossing looks perfect) About 80 bucks a yard!

They also have the walrus grain to finish the surrounding areas off. About 40 bucks a yard!

They have seat kits available, but my upholster said he could make them for less and have a perfect fit

I only requested green and black colors, but you can check out the full range

Seat foam is the other problem, can't help you out there

Your truck looks great, any updates on your thread? Pics. are always welcome

Re: Need upholstery help!

You might try a wtb ad, maybe someone has recently taken off a old Parchment (correct me if I am wrong, as it could be fawn) seat cover to put new ones on and might have some of the inserts from a back or something to morph into yours. Trevor

Can you post me a pic of what they sent you the stuff with the perfect embossing? They sent me some samples and after explaining it to the operator there, the material they sent me was plain without the embossing. Please let me know and what the part numbers were, if it is the same, I will be trying to order some. Thanks jaros....I wll try to get some new pics this weekend!

Re: Need upholstery help!

Found the link to SMS for you.... I know nothing about them, just found the link. http://www.smsautofabrics.com/

I have heard that the repop back seat covers don't have the stripe pattern in them.

Seat foam is not too bad, since it is so hard to come by, I think I will be able to have it trimmed and patched with donor foam. Have never done that but have seen it done somewhere in my net explorations. Door gaps are basically same, pass door is great but there is pesky one left at bottom of drivers door, still have one more trick I have to try.

Re: Need upholstery help!

They have the piping as well, I got it from them along with that exact same fabric.

Oh btw, when you get all your supplies from them double check the length, they screwed up my order like 3 times over a 4 month period before it got straightened out.
