Rhino or Line-x??

I'm thinking of having a truck bed either Rhino lined or using Line-x. I don't have any experience with either brand and wanted to get some feedback on which is best.
I am more concerned with which holds up the best and doesn't fade over time since I will be going over the rails.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

I've had some experience with both in various applications (race cars, bedliners, 4x4 acc) and believe both to be great products only thing I've noticed line-x extremely slippery when wet, and i don't know if its the particular retailers in my area or not but rhino seems to lay down thicker then line-x.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

Line-X is far superior. No comparison in my book. It`s hot-applied and has a consistent texture and thickness, like a vinyl top.I don`t feel its all that slippery.Definately better than a bedliner.Rhino is thick and thin.It comes out like cottage cheese.Forget keeping it clean.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

Want a good product forget Rhino or Linex. Check out Al's Liner far superior than those other products plus you can do it yourself for half the price. Check out the sticky thread at the top of the page.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

IMO, Line-X is the better product. Also, there now is a clear or something available to prevent the fading.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

LINE-X all the way. I have changed a few bed sides with LINE-X and the stuff has to be chiseled off with a air hammer to get to the spot welds. Grinding just loads up your wheel. Rhino Liner will peel up the first time you gouge something into it.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

I had Line-X mixed in a dark gray and had a UV protector added. This was my work truck with ladder racks. The racks were powder coated metallic gun metal gray with clear and I had Line-X shot on all the wear surfaces on the racks. They used a masking tape with steel wire.It came out flawless. This truck was show quality (working truck) and stayed that way for a few years of daily real world use and stayed looking fresh. My previous racks (same racks on a pickup) were powder coated gloss black and it wore off on the tops from sliding the equipment on and off.I don`t know how Barry`s product compares. But,that Line-X is the bee`s knees.
I doubt you can see it.Maybe if it`s blown up.It`s on the inner & upper areas of the side rails and wrapped around the top and down a bit on the cross bars:

my last truck had lineX still looked very good after 5years in the florida sun no real fading to speak about// was thick even consistant coat. i carried alot of heavy greasy stuff with sharp ragged edges and never had any issues or damage to the bedliner was easy to cleanup no matter what got on it // will use again in the future without a doubt

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

From all of the Rhino liner that I have seen it chalks up really bad and flakes off chips and peels, and this has been on at least 15 different trucks. I would go with LineX or Speed Liner myself. My Father in Law has had a Speedliner in his truck painted Metallic blue to match his truck, he has had it since 04 and it still looks like new, no FADING and he has not had to treat it like you do Rhino liner. Check it out www.speedliner.com

LINE-X is a high pressure coating that looks nice and even. Rhino is all lumpy and bumpy.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

Here is a company based in Oregon that has the best looking bedliner I've seen yet. It has a real nice even texture and doesn't seem to fade. I'm not sure they would have any dealers in your area though. http://www.armacoatings.com/index.php

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

It looks like most of you prefer LineX. The only ones I have had is a drop in plastic liner and one with Rhinoliner. Seems I may be somewhat a loner in that I really like the Rhinoliner. I like the lumpiness. Things are less prone to sliding around back there. I never gouged mine even pushing loaded pallets of material in with a forklift. My 97 truck Always sat outside in the sun and I saw no fading. No peeling or chipping off.
As with most anything the preparation determines how well a product performs. If the surface wasn't cleaned and prepared properly it will most likely peel in places.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

And how much does it cost to get Linex sprayed in?? Rhino installed. 5-6 700 bucks? Why waste your money when you can get the best product on the market hands down for a third of the price. Al's liner has been only been on the market for a short period so of course it doesn't have the following like the other franchise name brands. YET!

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

I have had both rhino and line-x.the line-x looked better and did not fade but it would rip and peel small chunks of material out of it when I hauled any parts, drag the tool box across it,etc.I took it back where I had it done, just to show it to them and they offered to re spray so that was good, sold the truck soon after so not sure how that held up.the rhino was tough and stood up to everything I threw at it,but like everyone has stated it faded immediatly after getting sprayed and looked like bad IMO.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

Looks like Rhino is most preferred. I went and talked with both places yesterday and price is about the same. Rhino did admit that theres will fade and they offer a brush on coating that helps prevent this and also makes the surface glossy..don't think I care for that.

I didn't think the price was bad at 525.00 for the bed but at Linex I asked about a 3" strip from wheel well to wheel well along the rockers and was quoted an additional 525.00...think I'll check some other dealerships in the K.C area.

Re: Rhino or Line-x??

In my opinion, whichever lining material you use is going to compare to a paint job. Preparation is key, but so is having good product to work with. Add to that the application process and the whoever is doing the application. Looks to me like there are 4 variables and any one of them can be suspect if the finished look isn't what you wanted or expected.

As to cost, when I had the Vortex done on my '69, I paid $300. Last time I looked, a Vortex franchisee had a mobile set up and would come to whereever you are and do the job. As for mine, I took it to them and they did it there. That was 18 months ago.

Yes there are a few, I've sold a few kits to a couple of members, Bad6772, has sprayed his truck, Bodydrps10, has sprayed his truck, BradE is going to do his truck. I've used it to spray my little project S10. I posted a before and after. can be color matched , texture is controlable. Picture doesn't show it but I actually did several different textures so I can show people the differences. Al's Liner has alot of plus's the biggest is the cost of the product.
If you get a dent in the bed floor or wheel well big deal just beat it back out. See the dents on my wheels wells in the pic. I've beaten those out, didn't crack or peel the liner, it is very versatile.

Yep......I used it on Sweet Pea....And I have sprayed other liners before....NONE IMO compare to Al's...I get compliments everywhere I take it...And It seems to hold up to my small loads (mainly chairs and tents)...But none the less....Its a great product, and I am not saying that just because I am sponsored by them...I would not put Junk on Sweet Pea....Its a great product....Barry B is a dealer....P.M him....There are pictures in my build thread and on Al's site....
