lowering rear leafs Q's
I'm not really sure how low i want in the back.i like the rake, but i know it'd look alot nicer sitting down. The front is between 2.5 and 3" lower than stock, the back is stock from what i know. I've never lowered anything this old before. It has rear leafs. What are my options? how low should i go???

Re: lowering rear leafs Q's
I've seen a couple threads on this site about "flip kits."
It's what I'll be doing in a few paychecks- seems pretty straightforward. Nice truck btw- love the Whites.

Re: lowering rear leafs Q's
depending on the kit a flip will usually yield 5-7" of drop. If you want to do less stick with these options;
1 pull leaves until the truck sits where you want . The ONLY pro to this method is it is free. The cons are the drop is achieved by removing weight capacity of the spring pack and the drop is from essentially over loading the remaining springs. Admittedly I have used this method. I currently have a mono leafed Mazde B series that wraps the axle so bad it has to be driven with the lightest foot. 2 drop shackle , basically a longer than stock replacement shackle that yields 2-3" of drop. some kits are only for the specified amount while others will have multiple mounting points allowing you to try different drop settings. these can be combined with drop perches, flip kits , or removing springs methods for additional drop. 3 Drop spring hangers or perches. these usually are only available fpr trucks with springs mounted along side of the frame as opposed to under the frame. it essentially moves the mount for the front spring eye up to acheive the drop. I have seen these in 1-3" as well as being a cheap skate and drilling new holes for the factory perches and moving them up. To answer your last question: No you do not need to weld or cut to do a flip kit although you may want to install a bolt on c notch and cut out a small section of the frame for added axle to frame clearence. I will be posting a write up of my flip kit install in the coming days and while my truck is a different application the steps will be almost identical to what your 67-72 would require. hope this helps, Josh

Re: lowering rear leafs Q's
Is it just an illusion, or are your front tires taller than your rear tires?

Re: lowering rear leafs Q's
Who makes a flip kit for the 67-72s? Will a 73-87 kit work? Same axle and all that....

I was wondering if the drop shackles for the c-10's are the same as the c-20's. I can't seem to find anything stating it's for them. |

I wasn't sure if i needed to do any mods to install shackles. If the c-10 ones can fit my application, then i'll start with those first, then take out a leaf or two if i need it any lower. I'm really hoping i can achieve the stance that's in my head. Which brings me to another question..... Do i need to get lowering shocks? or just new stock ones? I still have the stock front shocks after cutting a coil. They seemed alright for a couple months, but are a little lame now. Which brings another question up. Those monroe air shocks for hauling loads. Could i use shackles and then raise and lower the rear with those? Unless the ride quality would get horribly worst with air shocks..... Re: lowering rear leafs Q's
It has always been said buy the nicest part you can and shocks are no exception. For a mild drop a good stock replacement should be ok but forbig drops you'll want to look into a shock relocation kit or high pressure drop shocks. I like the relocator kit cause the drop shocks can be a bit stiff and it's nice to stay with oem replacements so if you're in BFE and need one theres a chance it may be in stock.
For air shocks , I am borrowing a friends C1500 that I put air shocks on a long time ago to haul my track bike around and they work great. I wish it was bagged but the owner has 3 other bagged rides and two on juice so you gotta leave something for the quick get away. Josh
