I saw this fan shroud and was wondering how it attaches.

I have a 72 and mine does not have any thing covering the top of radiator. I put in a 4 row and was wondering did the trucks come with these covers or did you add them later?

That's off of a 6 cylinder truck. The bolt holes will be in the core support if you choose to run it. It's just a finger guard, not a shroud.

Can it be attached on a V8?

Are the holes in the support standard on all trucks so that this guard would fit?

Yes, had one on mine but went to the reg shroud for better cooling.

Just run a regular shroud it will work way better.

You need to run a real shroud, not the finger guard. Without a proper shroud that covers the entire core, the fan will not pull air in through the radiator at a stop or at low speed and you will have low speed cooling problems.

no... you MAY have cooling problems.
I've had 3 trucks that had no 'real shroud' and never had an issue at all. 2 of them were were in texas, and 2 of them here in Ohio. (obviously, one of them I owned in both locations) A stock 350, a cammed out 350, and a gaggle of caddy big blocks (known for overheating) and the only time I ever had an overheading issue was in truck #2 when I snapped a belt, and later when I had a coolant leak. Obviously, a shroud wouldn't have done anything for that, but none the less. None of them ever saw anything past 210, and usually they stayed more like 190 - 200.

I completely agree. I too have run a few of them over the years with no shroud at all, here in Texas, with no overheating issues. Course, Texas is cooler than the other side of the pillow, but our weather does get hot here.

Yeah, I've been in Springtown in the middle of summer. Talk about a SWEAT FEST! Interesting area, though. I liked it.

And I too agree with Andy. If things are flowing properly and in good shape, it is possible not to boil over without the shroud. it obviously helps things a lot though.

My 68 GMC custom has a built 292, 30 over. It never runs hot without a shroud or the finger gard in place, It only has a 1 row radator also. I would like to put a shroud on If I could find one. Will a sbc work on a I6 ?

I would like to compliment the Texas fireman for all his insight and thanks for the work you do

it must be hot being a fireman in Texas at this time of the year !!!!!!!!!!

Wow, sounds like you can get away without a shroud sometimes. However, I would not risk it when the factory used one. I would stick with the factory set up since they spent a lot of time and money to R&D that cooling set up. I would not want to take the chance that on some hot day, the engine overheats and leaves me stranded.

You probably have the narrow radiator. The SBC shroud fits the wider v8 radiator.

I agree with Andy as well.
Im just running the gaurd and ive been doing in town driving in 94 % weather.
I have a 180% thermostate and a full sweep temp gauge and what I see is it runs at 180% as long as its moving and creeps up to 200%-210% at a drive up window.
Knowing i was stuck with a gaurd I made sure to get a permacool fan spacer that got the fan as close to Rad as I could.
Maybe the Aluminium Rad helps but also a long waterpump "engines in the back mounting position" I had to get that fan close enough to create draw.

But hey anyone wanting to donate a good shroud to Morgan ide happy to go that way to lol.
