GMC to Chevy front end?

I've been looking to purchase a chevy c10 shortbed. If I come upon a deal on a GMC what all does it take to change from a 1972 GMC front end appearance to lets say a 72 chevy front end?

swap out the entire front clip. Fenders, hood, grill, core support and bumper.
Then anything else that says GMC, like the tail gate, hub caps, console, glove box lid, the inst panel is spcific to GMC unless it is black.
I think that's everything.

Re: GMC to Chevy front end?

I have a 72 GMC that says Chevy all over it. The PO changed the radiator support, fenders and put a 69 Chevy grill in it. Looks pretty good.

I used to gate the GMC front end but it has grown on me over the years and I now kinda like it. It's different.

It might differ from one area to another but you can recover some of if not all of the money by selling the nose off the truck to someone else if it is good or parts if it just has some good parts like hood or fender. You might even find a low buck parts truck with the nose you want, swap noses and resell it to someone else with your old nose on it. They also differ in price depending on which trim package they have or don't have.

Re: GMC to Chevy front end?

One thing to note is the 67-72 GMC fenders are the same as the 67-68 Chevy fenders (with or without side markers depending on year). So it would be a little cheaper to do a 67-68 front end.

Also, I found a core support out of a gmc. I removed the headlight buckets, and cut a few holes to work with my 68 chevy headlights.

So then you would just need the grill, hood, and latch mechanism.

Re: GMC to Chevy front end?

Thanks guys, i wasnt sure but i thought the 67-68 chevy front fenders look the same as the gmc. so I would only need hood, core support (or poss mod the stock gmc one), and grill?
