CST differences

I am coming close to ordering new carpeting for my 71 Blazer.
When I spoke to ACC they told me the CST has a different cargo configuration.
What is different about it from the standard?

Thanks.

Re: CST differences

I think the CST is all that got carpet in the rear. Somewhere I have some literature that said what was included in the CST package.
According to this info..
CST- fiberglass top, bucket seats, console, armrest,rh sunvisor, extra insulation, chrome bumpers, undercoating, bright trim, spare tire cover, color keyed carpeting. $364 Some of these items were also available seperately.
This info was taken from the book...Chevy Blazer 1969-1981. It consists of copys of factory literature as well as road tests by Motor Trend etc.,from back in the day. Seems like I have a factory brochure somewhere that also has info on what was available when new.
So back to your question, Unless it was a CST I don't think they had carpeting. So I would think there was only one rear carpet. Maybe they make a carpet for cst that goes up to the side panels and a carpet for non cst that goes clear to the box side because there are no interior side panels?

Re: CST differences

I think the difference between CST carpet and standard is the CST's had rear interior side panels and the carpet did not go under them. The standard has carpet that goes around the wheel tubs.

Bouncy, I think you have that flipped flopped....I think Cst have the wheel tubs carpeted and the standard do not.

Re: CST differences

I didn't mean carpet on the wheel tubs, but carpet in front of and behind the wheel tubs where the side panels go. I do think you are correct about the CST having carpet on the wheel tubs too.

Re: CST differences

My CST Blazer had the original carpet when I bought it and it did not have carpet on the wheel tubs. I think they did not come with it. The carpet had the original "1971" carpet tag.

I think the wheel tub carpet was something the carpet companys came up with. I personally have never seen one with carpet on the tubs, but I haven't seen every CST blazer out there either.

Re: CST differences

I have a '72 CST. I am not 100% sure the carpet is original or not, but the carpet goes under the side panel linings and there is carpet over the wheel tubs. The wheel tub pieces are separate molded pieces from the floor.

Re: CST differences

I can't say for sure about the chevy cst. But the 72 Jimmy custom package (same as checy cst) did have rear carpet to the side panels, but none over the wheel tubs. They were just painted same as the dash.

My CST did not have carpeting on the wheel wells I purchased ACC carpeting and it has the wheel well carpet. It gives a bit of sound deadening. I did remove the side panels and put the carpet under the edge. I then cut some styro. sheets and put them behind the panels before installing them.

Re: CST differences

My 72 Blazer CST had the rear carpeting in the bed and it went under the panels to the outside wall. The wheel tubs were also carpeted. I just replaced the carpet with ACC and I have to say it is an exact fit. I was very happy with the carpet set. I think 72 Blazer CST models can with carpet on the wheel tubs, 71 models did not.

Re: CST differences

I don't know about from the factory, but when I bought my carpet from Frank, he ordered in both sets of carpet. We laid them out side by each, and if I remember correctly, we could not see a difference btween the CST and non CST sets.
