5x5 to 5x4.5 adapters?

i'm having trouble coming across any info on this subject and if its even a good thing to do. looking for any info on 5x5 to 5x4.5 adapters.

after being told from many different people and sites the bolt pattern is 5x5. i'm looking for rims for my 83 c10 but i dont want to go aftermarket, so i'm looking for nice take offs from another car/truck.

i want to go with a set of either corvette rims(80's saw blades-new z06 rims) but unsure if they'll fit because its going from a car to a truck...not to mention the bolt pattern is different.

5x4.5 lets you run anything from camaro, corvette, bmw, etc. much better options.

i was even told there's an adapter for 5x5 to 6lug to run newer tahoe rims/escalade rims etc.

any input on this or am i pretty lost?

i have a set of 87 vette rims, 06 zo6 rims, and a set of 07 escalade rims. none fit haha.

Mid 60's and 70's Chevy A bodys (like Corvette rally wheels) are 5 x 4.75".

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.5 adapters?

Yes, you can adapt from 5x5 to 5x4.75 or 6lug. I used to buy adaptors from Skulte, but I can't seem to get ahold of anybody lately.
To go to 5x4.75 should be pretty straight forward. But, the wheels you listed are much more positively offset (much less dish). Therefore you will have to run a pretty thick adaptor to fill the wheel wells.

To adapt to a six lug will require a two piece adaptor. Skulte also makes them but ??? can't be reached by phone or email. I just did a google search for six lug adaptors a couple of weeks ago and found atleast two other companies that make them.

BTW, I have no problem using adaptors and have been eyeballing the new camaro wheels myself and some other 6 lugs too. But I wouldn't buy the cheapest ones I could find either.

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.5 adapters?

If you went with 5x4.5 you could run some Ford wheels.. or some Jeep wheels.

Depending on the truck maybe some Jeep Canyon wheels would look good?

Would have to see a set photoshopped on a 73-87 to see..

Re: 5x5 to 5x4.5 adapters?

i havent got a clue about offsets. i'm used to throwing a set of cragars or something on and being done with it. finally got my stuff together and going to build a decent truck on a budget. splurged on the drop with the best i could find. paint/body is free. just got to worry about the interior(burb swap), motor/trans/rear swap(hopefully big block or LT1???), and rims. i'm just stuck on what to do with the rims. course i can take my credit card and go spend 3000 for rims and tires by some overpriced company, but i want to go with a set of take offs...

saw someone on here put a set of 18's from a tahoe on his truck and it looked quite nice, except it was a bit of a big tire.

i just found a set of 86 monte ss rims in my garage but i dont think they're the same bolt pattern as the truck.

i'd be happy if i could run a set of silverado ss rims(believe there 20's) or a nice newer tahoe/suburban set(think theyre also 20's, but with much lower profile tires. i'll see what the yard has up the road from me. i know he just got a wrecked SS in and might see what he wants for the drivetrain/rims...
