Re: Thinking about lowering my 68
it depends on what you like, find a truck you like the way it sits and ask the owner or post a pic here. Most of us can get you in the ball park on what it has.

Re: Thinking about lowering my 68
id say run drop spindles up front to keep the factory geometry, and for the rear do blocks and springs, im not sure if u need an adj. trac bar, someone will chime in who has done that drop. i dont think you do though. or you can just do springs, kinda depends on the funds you are working with.

Re: Thinking about lowering my 68
with a 2/4 drop you could just go with lowered springs/shocks, and be in good shape. IIRC, you wont need shock relocators , or adj track bar unless you go 5" or lower.

Re: Thinking about lowering my 68
if you're tearing into the suspension to lower/ it's the ideal time for ball joints tyrod ends pitman idler arms trailing arm bushings adjustable panhard bar shock relocatorers and you finish the job off with a trip to the alignment shop

Re: Thinking about lowering my 68
If funds are short, just do springs and maybe new ball joints and control arm bushings/shafts. You can always convert to discs later and replace steering stuff later, too. However, make sure all the steering stuff is at least safe for now. No loose joints.

Re: Thinking about lowering my 68
You can achieve it very easily, like others have mentioned if you only want a two-four drop you can achieve it with drop springs.there are several vendors in here that can sell you a kit at a cheaper price if you buy complete. Checkout my buil thread as we just did this to my truck.

Re: Thinking about lowering my 68
I agree with Al... (you can also check out my build thread in my signature below)
Early Classic Enterprises, Classic Performance Parts, and several other vendors offer some great lowering parts for your truck, it's just going to depend on your budget and how low you want to go. ![]() As far as the disc brake upgrade, I recently did this on my '69 and I retained the 6-lug pattern. Others prefer to swap to a 5-lug pattern but then you would have to change the rear to match. I also decided not to add a booster to my truck, so I am running a manual disc/drum setup. Good luck with the choices as it took me a while to make my final decision. The good thing is that you can do this in stages... drop, followed by disc upgrade,... and so on.

Re: Thinking about lowering my 68
I would keep the shocks you ahve now, unless they start to bottom out. You can always measure your shocks to see if it is likely they will compress too much when you go over bumps. Not likely, though with just a 2/4 drop.
