Coil spring questions.
I have got a 87 SWB that is in great shape except the previous owner lowered the front by heating the coils with a torch.
the bottom three coils are touching each other and they put the little rubber spacers between the others to raise it back up a little My plans were to buy some stock springs and then use some drop spindles to get it back down. But could i just buy some drop springs instead? that would save me some money. i just want a basic 2/4 style drop for now. so springs vs. spindles? pro's and con's? I lowered my 01 with spindles and shackle hanger kit and it had a great ride but im wondering if springs would be the same? |

Re: Coil spring questions.
I've never used springs on a truck, but I have on a car and it did stiffen up the ride. But you can get a set of springs (2 or 3 in drop)for little over 100 bucks at summit verses 300 plus for the spendles. I just bought a set of spindles and now wish I would have went with the prings. I don't think I've bought 1 part that I didn't either have to take back or modify. But I'm sure in the end the ride quality will be worth it.

Re: Coil spring questions.
From a budget perspective I would just go with lowering springs. You can always do spindles later if you want more drop. I wouldn't imagine the ride being any worse with the lowering springs than the way yours are right now.
